Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 2, 2010

For this Sunday, May 2nd, the focus for our meditation will be on Contentment. So much of the discord in this world seems to be generated by feelings of discontent. People are unhappy with their lot in life and want to rebel against others to gain retribution or to recover what they perceive the "haves" to be keeping from the "have nots." Discontent with what one already has leads to the desire for more and fosters greed and envy. All of these contribute to the general spirit of dissatisfaction that makes it hard for people to experience true fulfillment. In our meditation this week we want to examine what brings us the greatest sense of Contentment. I would be surprised if anyone identified money or material goods as the answer. Holding a child, stroking the fur of a faithful companion, or feeling the sun on one's face are probably more satisfying ways to feel fulfilled. This week we want to identify the simple sources of Contentment and spend more time appreciating and savoring them. In addition, we want to ask that those who feel discontent find a way to achieve a sense of Contentment with what is already present in their life.

As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits. If you are unable to participate at that particular time there are instructions posted on how to energetically contribute at either an earlier or later time (please see "Instructions for Meditating at Alternate Dates or Times" posted on August 21, 2008). A few minutes before 12:15 you may want to get into your meditation posture and begin the relaxation phase.

Stage 1:
Sit (or lay down) so that you are relaxed and comfortable but your spine is straight and aligned over your pelvis (if seated). Begin by taking several slow, deep breaths. Follow the sensation of the breath down into your body. Breathe into your spine, your hips, and then your legs. Feel the breath reach your feet on the floor and then feel the connection through your feet to the earth's energy. Draw the earth's energy up through your feet into your body. Feel your body fill completely with this energy from your breath and the earth. Invite your own personal spiritual guides to join you in this meditation. Ask for those in the spiritual realm (especially the nation's Founding Fathers) who want to assist us in this project to be present. If you have trouble feeling centered and fully in your body or feeling grounded to the earth ask Guidance to help you.

Stage 2:
Stay relaxed and begin to make a connection with the others in the group by perceiving that we are present in the same room and formed in a circle. Feel yourself make contact with the person on each side of you in the circle by taking their hand -- one to the right and one to the left. Feel the energy of the group grow as you make this connection. Recognize there are groups all over who are doing similar activities with the same intention. We are connected to them as well as to each other. Feel the grid or network that is created from this energetic connection. We receive energy from it as we feed energy to it.

Stage 3:
Place a brilliant white light over the center of the country. Extend blue rays out from the center of that light in the four directions (north, south, east, and west). The blue rays fill the country from border to border and sea to sea. Connect to the energetic grid or network created across the circle. Use that grid to direct energy to the manitou of the nation [see "Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 7, 2008" for explanation] with the intent of sending the energy of Contentment across the nation.

The way to do this is to perceive in your body how the quality of Contentment feels. Ask yourself what in my life brings me the greatest sense of Contentment? What does it feel like when I am feeling completely satisfied and Content? Hold that sensation and allow it to intensify as you feed that energy to the grid or network with each breath.

Stage 4:
Close by disconnecting from the group circle. Feel as though you release the hand of the person next to you and feel yourself break from the group.

Stage 5:
Thank your guidance and those in the spiritual realm for coming to assist you in this endeavor. Ask them to continue this work from their plane on your behalf throughout the week. If you are able, you may want to repeat this process throughout the week, focusing on bringing light and energy to the meditation topic. When you do, connect to the same network or grid of energy created by the group at the original meditation session. Direct your intention to help support and grow that group energy. Be sure to disconnect from the group at the end.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 25, 2010

For this Sunday, April 25th, the focus for our meditation will be on Comfort. Basic needs and Comforts are something so many of us take for granted. We may have times when money is tight, and perhaps we have to forego non-essential purchases such as new clothes or a new car, but few of us know what real hunger and poverty are like. Yet, a look across America reveals pockets of true poverty where families are unable to feed and clothe their children. I've traveled to parts of the developing world and while at times the scenes were jarring, they weren't entirely unexpected given the nature of the foreign country I was in at the time. But to see similar conditions here in our own country is appalling and shameful, particularly when by contrast so many resources should be available to help eradicate these hardships. In our meditation and prayer this week we want to ask that those with the most desperate of needs in this country be brought Comfort. Instead of struggling to subsist may they find the help needed to bring a level of Comfort into their lives.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of the level of Comfort I experience in my life? What does it feel like when I take action to help bring Comfort to another individual? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 18, 2010

For this Sunday, April 18th, the focus for our meditation will be on Failure. This topic will likely catch most of you by surprise as it initially seems so contrary to the normally uplifting and motivational themes chosen for our weekly meditation. But this time I want us to face Failure head on and see it for what it really can be. More often than not our greatest lessons come from our Failures, and they help us achieve greater growth than we could experience if all our endeavors went smoothly. Sometimes Failure sets us on a different path than the one we'd originally intended - one that ultimately turns out to be the best direction for us to take, but we never would have chosen that path if not forced to do so by Failure. This week we want to specifically examine how our fear of Failure holds us back. Ask yourself what am I not doing because I am afraid I will Fail? How does my fear of Failure prevent me from taking a different path? Only by letting go of our fear of Failure can we allow ourselves to attempt those scary first steps and see where they lead us. We may find they take us beyond where we otherwise ever thought we were capable of going.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of the valuable lessons that can come from Failure? What does it feel like when I am able to release any fear I have surrounding the possibility of Failure? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 11, 2010

For this Sunday, April 11th, the focus for our meditation will be on Guidance. In the past we have asked for Guidance to assist our elected officials, but this week we want to focus on our own need for Guidance. Whether we acknowledge them or not, we are always surrounded by spiritual beings who are present for us. Some refer to them as angels, spiritual guides, or master teachers, but they are there to assist us if we would only call on them. I recently read a remarkable account of a near-death experience in which the writer not only received a miraculous physical healing but also came to realize the power and significance of these spiritual beings in her life (see http://www.weboflove.org/inspiring_stories_10/near_death_miracles to read this inspiring story for yourself). I'm always struck by how many times the process of sorting through problems or making important decisions is more difficult than it needs to be because I stubbornly try to figure it all out on my own. Instead, simply by acknowledging the presence of these spiritual guides in our life we can access an immense resource that will support us and smooth the way. This week in our meditation we want to intentionally recognize the presence of Guidance and ask that our relationship with them be deepened so that we may succeed in achieving our higher purpose here on earth.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, asking to bring in your Guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of the presence of Guidance around me? What does it feel like when I am able to connect to Guidance and receive their support and assistance? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 4, 2010

For this Sunday, April 4th, the focus for our meditation will be on Moderation. Recent news continues to reflect the polarization that appears to be occurring in our country. There is a growing prevalence of groups who hold extremist views and are willing to resort to violence to promote their opinions. Whether it is participation in the national census or compliance with recent healthcare reform legislation, such issues seem to readily draw those who want to force the pendulum to one extreme end or the other. What becomes lost is the willingness to listen to others and consider possible alternatives that could strike a medium ground of compromise. In our prayer and meditation this week we want to ask that those with extreme viewpoints be moved to remain open-minded and receptive to those who differ with them and that a sense of balance and Moderation be restored across the nation.

As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits.
