Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 31, 2009

For this coming Sunday, May 31st, the focus for our meditation will be on Interconnectedness. One of the wonderful contributions of the field of quantum physics is having demonstrated the interconnectedness of distant objects to each other. By raising our awareness that we can impact objects and beings separated from us in space it makes us more conscious of the power of our words and actions. It is also, I believe, what serves as the foundation for remote healing and the power of prayer. In generating the prayer or the healing intention and releasing that into the universe you create a ripple of energy that travels around the world, eventually washing like a wave over the other individual and impacting their being. Each week during our meditation we often feel the presence of a grid or network that extends between the members of the circle and reaches out beyond our group. Centuries before quantum physics came along Mahayana Buddhism first referred to this grid as "Indra's Net" - a virtual spider web that extends out, creating connections between all the other objects and beings in the universe. In our meditation this week we want to focus on raising awareness of the Interconnectedness of all beings to each other. By doing so, we hope to make people more conscious of the impact of their thoughts, words, and actions on others and the world around them and to thereby be motivated to create a more positive influence.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does this sense of Interconnectedness to other beings feel in my body? How do I feel when I am aware of my connectedness to the Universe? What do I want the energetic ripple I create and send out to contain? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 24, 2009

For this coming Sunday, May 24th, the focus for our meditation will be on Determination. This is a holiday weekend during which we take time to remember our fallen heroes -- those who have served this country and given the ultimate sacrifice of their life to their nation. In reflecting on the nature of what these honored veterans were asked to do they required Determination and the tenacity to firmly take action when others might choose to turn their backs. This is not about the rightness or wrongness of war. That is something better left to debates elsewhere. It is about the resoluteness of one's character that drives one to act with firmness of purpose under difficult conditions. Just as these veterans found the courage to act purposely, so do we as citizens of this nation want to find that same determination in our everyday lives. As a country we are faced with significant challenges ahead, and the quality of Determination will help us find a way through these obstacles.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself what areas of my life require me to face them with more Determination? How does it feel in my body when I am being Determined? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 17, 2009

For this coming Sunday, May 17th, the focus for our meditation will be on Resilience. There are so many changes being forced on people and industries across the nation during these difficult times. People who may have identified with a particular career path or profession suddenly find themselves out of work and having to learn a new skill set in order to gain meaningful employment. I recently heard the story of a successful business that decades ago manufactured feedbags for horses. Their feedbags were considered very well-made and were quite popular. No matter how great their product was or the quality of their work, however, when the "horseless carriage" took over they had a choice to make. Either figure out a way to make feedbags for automobiles or re-tool what they did. In the course of re-inventing oneself you may need to examine what is holding you back from being resilient and adaptive. For this nation in particular are there things we are clinging to that need to be discarded? What are the "cobwebs" that need to be swept out so we can recreate what this country stands for and represents? If we are to progress and evolve as individuals and as a nation we want to figure out a way to regain our sense of Resilience.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself what may be holding me back or needs to be discarded before I can adapt and progress as an individual? How does it feel in my body when I am being Resilient? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 10, 2009

For this coming Sunday, May 10th, the focus for our meditation will be on Respect. The dictionary includes in its definitions for Respect the notion of esteem for another person's worth or ability along with deference and courtesy in acknowledging them. It is a fundamental value that is taught to children by those who raise them. Most would say before you can truly respect others you must first have self-respect. When you have respect for yourself you become capable of the mutual consideration that brings respect for others. For this nation we want to help foster a sense of self-respect among our citizens and to then extend that same value to others not only around us in our lives and communities but also to other countries around the world. If we can increase the sense of self-respect and respect for others this will greatly help in making the world more receptive to peace.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I have Self-Respect? How do I feel when I have Respect for others? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 3, 2009

For this coming Sunday, May 3rd, the focus for our meditation will be on Stewardship. No matter which metric you choose (per capita income, GNP, etc.), this nation ranks as a very powerful force globally. I sometimes wonder if our Founding Fathers had any notion of how influential and powerful a country we would become? With the immense resources and power we possess, however, comes an equally important burden of responsibility in how we exercise that influence. Those around us with less ability or fewer resources naturally become our charges. As "good stewards" we need to care for those charges and should accept that responsibility willingly and gladly. Being in a position to act as a "good steward" might be viewed as a reflection of the abundance of blessings the steward has received. In this week's meditation we want to foster a desire to take on the responsibility of Stewardship in recognition and gratitude for all that we abundantly possess as a nation and as individuals.

As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits. If you are unable to participate at that particular time there are instructions posted on how to energetically contribute at either an earlier or later time (please see "Instructions for Meditating at Alternate Dates or Times" posted on August 21, 2008).

A few minutes before 12:15 you may want to get into your meditation posture and begin the relaxation phase.

Stage 1:
Sit (or lay down) so that you are relaxed and comfortable but your spine is straight and aligned over your pelvis (if seated).
Begin by taking several slow, deep breaths.
Follow the sensation of the breath down into your body.
Breathe into your spine, your hips, and then your legs.
Feel the breath reach your feet on the floor and then feel the connection through your feet to the earth’s energy.
Draw the earth’s energy up through your feet into your body.
Feel your body fill completely with this energy from your breath and the earth.Invite your own personal spiritual guides to join you in the meditation.
Ask for those in the spiritual realm (especially the nation's Founding Fathers) who want to assist us in this project to be present.
If you have trouble feeling centered and fully in your body or feeling grounded to the earth ask Guidance to help you.

Stage 2:
Stay relaxed and begin to make a connection with the others in the group by perceiving that we are present in the same room and formed in a circle.
Feel yourself make contact with the person on each side of you in the circle by taking their hand – one to the right and one to the left. Feel the energy of the group grow as you make this connection.
Recognize there are groups all over who are doing similar activities with the same intention. We are connected to them as well as to each other.
Feel the grid or network that is created from this energetic connection. We receive energy from it as we feed energy to it.

Stage 3:
Place a brilliant white light over the center of the country.
Extend blue rays out from the center of that light in the four directions (north, south, east, and west).
The blue rays fill the country from border to border and sea to sea.
Connect to the energetic grid or network created across the circle. Use that grid to direct energy to the manitou of the nation [See Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 7, 2008 for explanation] with the intent of increasing the desire for Stewardship.
The way to do this is to perceive in your body what the quality of Stewardship feels like. Ask yourself, "What does it feel like in my body when I am acting as a Good Steward?" "Who around me is in need of my Stewardship?" Hold that sensation and allow it to intensify as you feed that energy to the grid or network with each breath.

Stage 4:
Close by disconnecting from the group circle.
Feel as though you release the hand of the person next to you and feel yourself break from the group.

Stage 5:
Thank your guidance and those in the spiritual realm for coming to assist you in this endeavor. Ask them to continue this work from their plane on your behalf throughout the week.

If you are able, you may want to repeat this process throughout the week, focusing on bringing light and energy to the meditation topic. When you do, connect to the same network or grid of energy created by the group at the original meditation session. Direct your intention to help support and grow that group energy. Be sure to disconnect from the group at the end.
