For this Sunday, December 26th, the focus for our meditation will be on Peace. As we come to a pause in our busy lives to celebrate holidays with family and friends certain values become even more prominent in our thoughts. We cherish our connection to others, we realize how love does not require material possessions to be expressed, and we find ourselves wishing the state of calm and Peace that descends over us all could be sustained throughout the year. This week's meditation focus is a simple one -- we want to connect to that sense of Peace and use the power of our prayer and meditation to help infuse the energy of Peace throughout not just our nation but the entire world. In your meditation efforts bring to mind those areas where unrest seems to dominate and instead ask that they be blanketed with a deep and abiding Peace that brings respite to all.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am filled with an abiding sense of Peace? What does it feel like when I am aware of the presence of Peace around me? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Dec. 19, 2010
For this Sunday, December 19th, the focus for our meditation will be on Determination. In the past we have focused on Optimism, but this week we want to recognize that for our ideal visions to be realized we must act with Determination. There is a purposefulness and confidence in how we carry out our life that can make the difference as to whether what we are striving for is achieved. To be Determined implies that no matter what obstacles present themselves you will seek to move past them. It requires a commitment to the goal that affirms you will not be deterred from succeeding even if along the way you encounter setbacks. In acting with Determination one needs to have a clear sense of the objective you are going after, the confidence to know you have the ability to reach that objective, and the stamina to persist under difficult conditions. This week in our prayer and meditation we want to examine in what aspects of our life do we need more Determination? Where are we hesitant to move forward because we are uncertain of our ability to achieve what we are seeking? In addition, we want to ask that our nation have the clarity of vision to know what goals we should be striving for and the Determination to succeed.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am acting with Determination? What does it feel like when I have the Determination needed to achieve my goals? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Dec. 12, 2010
For this Sunday, December 12th, the focus for our meditation will be on Courage. Numerous accounts of feats of Courage repeatedly affirm that many of the heroes whose exploits we hear about act not with fearlessness but despite the fear they feel. In situations that would reasonably drive most people into the latter two states of the “fight, flight, or freeze” response those who act with Courage feel the same threat but push themselves to take action anyway. In some individuals this response pattern is almost instinctive, but in others it can be embedded or learned through conscious intent. In each instance in which you identify a fearful situation and summon the Courage to act anyway it expands your abilities and diminishes your limitations. Network television is currently airing one of those “hidden camera” programs that uses actors to create what appear to be real situations. The premise for the show is to present an ethical dilemma for those who are bystanders and see how they behave. While there are aspects of the show I don’t particularly care for, it is insightful to see how people react, or more often, not react. Those who ultimately take action by speaking up or confronting the actors are then debriefed and frequently state they felt a reluctance to interfere but were motivated to do something. While perhaps on a lesser scale than running into a burning building, the same behavioral incentive is present – they acted even in the presence of an initial aversion to respond because they knew it was the right thing to do. In our meditation this week we want to examine our own lives and identify where a fear may be present that is holding us back. See if you can begin to alter your response pattern by consciously summoning the Courage needed to deal with the situation and ultimately expand your capabilities.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware I am acting with Courage? What does it feel like when I face my fears and find the Courage to take the action that is needed? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Dec. 5, 2010
For this Sunday, December 5th, the focus for our meditation will be on Possibility. The actor Christopher Reeve once said, “So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” We all too often limit our accomplishments by predetermining what we think is impossible and subsequently acting as though that restriction held true. But what if we weren’t held back? Numerous acclaimed feats were achieved mainly due to a blessed ignorance of the existence of limitations. I recently read a book about the 1972 air disaster in which a Uruguayan rugby team became stranded in the rugged terrain of the Andes. One survivor managed to walk across the mountains into Chile to contact rescuers. Afterward, people found it incredible to realize that he had accomplished this heroic task. With no training, no equipment, and only the barest of provisions he managed to navigate his way over peaks and cliffs that would challenge professional mountain climbers. It was a feat he should not have been able to carry out, and had he realized the challenge before him he may not have even tried. But his ignorance of the difficulty and strong desire to survive pushed him to make the attempt. In our own lives we want to examine this week not what is probable for us to achieve based on what we think are our capabilities. Instead, let us seek to expand beyond our limitations and summon the will to reach for what is held in the broader realm of Possibility.
As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits. If you are unable to participate at that particular time there are instructions posted on how to energetically contribute at either an earlier or later time (please see "Instructions for Meditating at Alternate Dates or Times" posted on August 21, 2008). A few minutes before 12:15 you may want to get into your meditation posture and begin the relaxation phase.
Stage 1:
Sit (or lay down) so that you are relaxed and comfortable but your spine is straight and aligned over your pelvis (if seated). Begin by taking several slow, deep breaths. Follow the sensation of the breath down into your body. Breathe into your spine, your hips, and then your legs. Feel the breath reach your feet on the floor and then feel the connection through your feet to the earth's energy. Draw the earth's energy up through your feet into your body. Feel your body fill completely with this energy from your breath and the earth. Invite your own personal spiritual guides to join you in this meditation. Ask for those in the spiritual realm (especially the nation's Founding Fathers) who want to assist us in this effort to be present. If you have trouble feeling centered and fully in your body or feeling grounded to the earth ask Guidance to help you.
Stage 2:
Stay relaxed and begin to make a connection with the others in the group by perceiving that we are present in the same room and formed in a circle. Feel yourself make contact with the person on each side of you in the circle by taking their hand -- one to the right and one to the left. Feel the energy of the group grow as you make this connection. Recognize there are groups all over who are doing similar activities with the same intention. We are connected to them as well as to each other. Feel the grid or network that is created from this energetic connection. We receive energy from it as we feed energy to it.
Stage 3:
Place a brilliant white light over the center of the country. Extend blue rays out from the center of that light in the four directions (north, south, east, and west). The blue rays fill the country from border to border and sea to sea. Connect to the energetic grid or network created across the circle. Use that grid to direct energy to the manitou of the nation (see "Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 7, 2008" for explanation) with the intent of sending the energy of Possibility across the nation.
The way to do this is to perceive in your body how the quality of Possibility feels. Ask yourself how do I feel when I understand how broad are the Possibilities of what can be accomplished? How does it feel in my body when I know the Possibility of what I can achieve is more than I realize? Hold that sensation and allow it to intensify as you feed that energy to the grid or network with each breath.
Stage 4:
Close by disconnecting from the group circle. Feel as though you release the hand of the person next to you and feel yourself break from the group.
Stage 5:
Thank your guidance and those in the spiritual realm for coming to assist you in this endeavor. Ask them to continue this work from their plane on your behalf. If you are able, you may want to repeat this process throughout the week, focusing on bringing light and energy to the meditation topic. When you do, connect to the same network or grid of energy created by the group at the original meditation session. Direct your intention to help support and grow that group energy. Be sure to disconnect from the group at the end.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Nov. 28, 2010
For this Sunday, November 28th, the focus for our meditation will be on Productivity. While last week's meditation was on Focus and not spreading ourselves too thin, this week we want to ponder the output of our efforts. Unlike our forebears who may have served in more manual tasks such as farming, weaving, carpentry, etc., many of us work in ways where it can be challenging to identify a true Product as the output. We may generate ideas, provide a service, or do something that seems less tangible than a physical Product from our efforts. The United States typically ranks in the top ten of countries around the world in the average number of hours people work each week and is number four in a measure of Productivity. But do you ever ask yourself what do we really have to show for all those hours of hard work we put in? Is what we Produce or create a worthy reflection of our abilities and talents? This is not about the material possessions we are able to purchase by virtue of the money we earn but is more about the actual result of our work in terms of what we generate. What does our work contribute to the world, what do we manifest or create as a result of our efforts? If our output is not what we would like it to be how can we change to bring about the Productivity we seek?
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am feeling most Productive? What does it feel like when my Productivity results in a positive outcome? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Nov. 21, 2010
For this Sunday, November 21st, the focus for our meditation will be on Focus. Many of us often have the best of intentions but sometimes require more Focus in life. We see what is possible and not how things are, we strive to bring the best out of life, and yet in the process of trying to achieve all that inspires and motivates us sometimes we spread ourselves too thin. There are an overwhelming number of choices before us on how we can contribute to the world. Neighbors of mine have a relative who decided to Focus their charitable giving by assisting a single cause. They realized by spreading their donations out to all the worthy groups vying for their attention they felt as though they weren't making much of a difference. So, they decided to Focus their fund-raising and donations for a single cause. They aren't wealthy people; they're regular folks who felt they could be much more effective if they concentrated their philanthropy. It is the same principle in how we expend our energy in the world. If we try to do too much we may not succeed in moving things along as far as we might like. Instead, we want to consider how to best Focus our efforts to serve the highest good. In our meditation this week please also ask that our country find Focus for how we as a nation can best serve in the world.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I have a clear Focus? What does it feel like when I am able to Focus my energy in a way that makes me most effective? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Nov. 14, 2010
For this Sunday, November 14th, the focus for our meditation will be on Calcination. Calcination is the first step in the alchemical process of transformation. It involves the heating of a substance or material to burn off impurities. Once it is reduced to ashes what is left is presumed to be more pure. In our inner transformation the process of Calcination can help to clean out emotions or feelings that keep us stuck and unable to change. At first glance the process of Calcination can seem painful and one we might prefer to avoid going through. However, just as a forest can experience a reseeding after a blaze that clears out deadwood and choking undergrowth, so too can we find ourselves reinvigorated following a process of burning away that which hinders us from making a needed transformation. In our meditation this week we want to focus on how we may benefit from allowing ourselves to experience the alchemical process of Calcination. What keeps us stuck or makes us less flexible to change and how might this be cleared away? At the same time, please focus on our nation and ask that whatever may be preventing our country from making needed changes also be cleared through Calcination.
Ask yourself how does it feel when I experience impurities being burned away and cleared from my body? How might I most benefit from the alchemical process of Calcination that can help to clear what is keeping me stuck? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Nov. 7, 2010
For this Sunday, November 7th, the focus for our meditation will be on Trust. To have Trust in another person implies the ability to relinquish control and know everything will be taken care of properly. It can be a scary step for some people to truly Trust another individual and not feel as though they have to remain in charge in order for things to be done correctly. Trust can also involve the sharing of something that is cherished or confidential and feeling confident it will remain protected. One condition for establishing Trust is to have a sense of the absence of risk or negative consequence from placing Trust in someone. Seldom, however, are we ever entirely assured of this. There are many times in life when we must Trust in order to act. We have choices to make and must select the one that seems best at the time but there remains a need to Trust in the outcome. To be able to Trust ultimately reflects the confidence that we are guided and protected by a Divine being even in the presence of the unknown. As we move through our work, school, or personal activities this next week let us seek to do so with a sense of Trust, and as the saying goes, "Let go and let God."
As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits. Be sure to disconnect from the group at the end.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Oct. 31, 2010
For this Sunday, October 31st, the focus for our meditation will be on Integrity and Ethics. Over the past couple of weeks as we have approached the upcoming elections the volume of negative campaign ads has appeared to skyrocket. These can be incredibly irritating and make me question what value they bring – they certainly do not seem to inform voters in any helpful way and instead reflect a lack of Integrity and Ethics. I would rather have candidates spend their campaign funds on ads that help educate voters on key issues and make clear their stand on those matters. My preference would be if candidates are unable to clearly promote themselves in a manner that does not malign their opponents that they instead be required to donate those advertising funds to a charitable cause. While I realize this is likely unrealistic I also know we can impact the nation’s consciousness through meditation. As Election Day nears we want to focus our prayer and meditation efforts on asking that voters recognize the value of Integrity and Ethics in assessing candidates and choose wisely in recording their votes. Additionally, we want to ask that those who are elected recognize the importance of Integrity and Ethics and make them an integral part of service to their constituents.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I recognize the importance of Integrity and Ethics? How does it feel when I act with Integrity and Ethics and realize others around me do the same? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Oct. 24, 2010
For this Sunday, October 24th, the focus for our meditation will be on Empathy. Past measures of intelligence focused on such cognitive abilities as abstract reasoning, spatial imagery, word and sentence comprehension, etc. In more modern times, however, a new form of intelligence has come into prominence – one labeled as Emotional Intelligence. This refers to the ability to accurately identify the emotions of others as well as those feelings we ourselves experience. It is fundamental to our ability to understand and deal appropriately with others and in truly knowing ourselves. To have Empathy implies one acts with consideration for what others are feeling and how our behavior will impact them. I don’t know if it is our increasing interaction with computer technology or some other factor, but it seems as though the quality of Empathy is waning in our society. Those who bully others, for instance, clearly lack the ability to appreciate how their actions can impact their victims. They seem to regard this behavior as entertainment with callous disregard for the damage it may cause. In our meditation this week we want to ask that people across this country gain a greater desire for Empathy and consequently act with greater consideration for others.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am able to have Empathy and appreciate the emotions of others? How does it feel when I act with Empathy and consideration for the feelings of others? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Oct. 17, 2010
For this Sunday, October 17th, the focus for our meditation will be on Synchronicity. The term "coincidence" is often interpreted as referring to unrelated events that appear connected through happenstance or sheer luck. In certain usages, however, the term implies something far different. For instance, when two objects in space touch at the same point they are said to be "co-incident." The meaning that is conveyed is one of spatial proximity or alignment and does not necessarily suggest this occurs through mere accident. In life we all too often label an unexpected relationship between disparate events as "coincidence." Without disputing that purely accidental alignments can happen I believe we may too frequently attribute such events to chance. This then ignores the possibility of the influence of a divine order in our lives. Something makes you late in leaving for work in the morning, and you consequently discover had you been on time you could have been involved in a multi-vehicle accident on the highway you travel each day. We typically chalk that up to "coincidence," but when the same events are considered to have occurred for some purpose it places things in a different light. In acknowledging the presence of Synchronicity in our life we recognize our connection to all things in the universe. The "co-incidence" of two occurrences coming together in a surprising or unexpected way can then present an opportunity for appreciation of the presence of Spirit in our life. Consider what events have taken place that you may have attributed to luck and ask instead whether they may represent a divine influence. This week in our meditation we want to examine how Synchronicity can serve to remind us of our connection to the Divine and in so doing deepen and strengthen that bond.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of the occurrence of Synchronicity in my life? How does it feel when I recognize the presence of Spirit in the Synchronicities that I observe? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Oct. 10, 2010
For this Sunday, October 10th, the focus for our meditation will be on Security. With the recent reports of an increased potential for terrorist attacks on American and European cities we will make a slight departure from our usual focus to bring our meditative efforts to bear on this issue. Each week at the beginning of our meditation session we create the image of a brilliant star and raise it as a source of light over the entire country. The blue bands or rays that we then extend from the center of that star to the four borders are used to secure this light in place so it continues to shine over the nation. This week we want to focus on making this star-like light as luminous and radiant as possible - increasing its brightness even more as it shines down on us. After raising this star-like light above the country we want to then ask that this light help identify those with ill intent who seek to take violent action to further their terrorist cause. Think of it as a searchlight that seeks out those who wish to harm the nation and innocent citizens. When I do this practice it brings to mind the old Edward G. Robinson and Jimmy Cagney movies where the prison yard searchlight scans the grounds before lighting on someone trying to make their escape. If we focus on using this star-like light to illuminate those who seek to harm our country it can bring their intent to the attention of others so they can be stopped and prevented from acting. Through this week's meditative practice we seek to increase our nation's Security and protect our citizens from harm.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of the presence of safety and Security in my life? How does it feel when I appreciate a sense of real Security that keeps me safe from harm? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Oct. 3, 2010
For this Sunday, October 3rd, the focus for our meditation will be on Self-Knowledge. In ancient Egypt students in the Mystery School tradition would pursue a course of study that became progressively more challenging. At each stage the student would be initiated into the next level of the temple and allowed deeper access into the mysteries and wisdom it contained. When ready to progress to the next level the student would pass through a door above which a saying was inscribed which represented that aspect of the student’s journey. Above one of the innermost doors the inscription read, “Know who you are.” In having Self-Knowledge of who we are we come to understand what our purpose is in this lifetime. We recognize our challenges as well as our gifts and are aided in understanding what we need to overcome, resolve, correct, or achieve in this life. Sometimes acquiring true Self-Knowledge takes an entire lifetime and is never fully completed. But with each deeper insight into who we are we move one step closer to the realization of what is ultimately possible for us to become. This week in our meditation we want to reflect on the notion of Self-Knowledge and ask that we be given a clearer understanding of our gifts, who we are, and ultimately why we are here and in so doing be drawn closer to our Higher Self.
7, 2008" for explanation) with the intent of sending the energy of Self-Knowledge across the nation.
The way to do this is to perceive in your body how the quality of Self-Knowledge feels. Ask yourself how do I feel when I achieve some insight as to who I am and the gifts I bring into the world? How does it feel in my body when I gain a deeper understanding of Self-Knowledge and my purpose in life?
Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 26, 2010
For this Sunday, September 26th, the focus for our meditation will be on Optimism. In Dion Fortune's work during World War II, described in the book, "The Magical Battle of Britain," she discusses the importance of realizing the impact we have on those around us. At a time when the periodic bombings of London resulted in prolonged moments of terror and chaos she noted how the atmosphere at the headquarters for their spiritual society instead resonated with a sense of peace. She exhorted her members to "act 'as if' what we want to believe is true, and we shall find that we have very likely brought it into manifestation." More importantly, she realized that their group served as a nucleus for the nation in maintaining a spirit of stability and serenity. This notion goes far beyond mere "positive thinking" but is firmly rooted in an awareness of the Divine assistance and protection that is always available to us. As our nation readies itself for another season of elections there are those who would like to broadcast a message of pessimism. There is nothing at all that pessimism contributes in trying to improve a situation. To help restore some balance in the nation we want to use ourselves as beacons of light to manifest light and Optimism. As we move through our world let us remember that in subtle ways we alter those whom we encounter. This week we ask that we focus on broadcasting a sense of Optimism that will ultimately inspire others to seek to effect progress rather than place blame.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am filled with a sense of Optimism about the future and my life? How does it feel when I recognize all the good reasons I have to hold true Optimism for the future? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 19, 2010
For this Sunday, September 19th, the focus for our meditation will be on Roots. Three events have converged this week to prompt our meditation theme. First, friends recently introduced me to a movie called "Iron Jawed Angels" about the suffragette movement that secured women's right to vote. Second, I have been listening to a CD set of talks given by teacher Sobonfu Some in which she talks about serving as the "keeper of the rituals" for her West African tribe. Third, I am preparing for an upcoming trip to London which always brings my thoughts to Dion Fortune and her Society of Inner Light and how I was inspired by her efforts to attempt this meditation project. In each instance there is a connection to those who came before us and serve as our Roots. This connection does not need to be familial but can come from recognizing the legacy we are left as a result of the struggles and sacrifices of others. In our meditation this week we want to honor those who have preceded us and consequently helped to improve our life in some way. We want to recognize the importance of our Roots and express appreciation for all they have done in making a positive impact on the generations that follow them.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of my Roots and the contributions of those who preceded me? How does it feel when I recognize how I have benefited from a connection to those I consider to be my Roots? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 12, 2010
For this Sunday, September 12th, the focus for our meditation will be on Commonality. On the cusp of the anniversary of the September 11th attacks the divisions and differences between various religions and countries continue to be all too apparent. For as long as different faiths and beliefs have existed it seems there has always been an accompanying strife that arises almost as a natural consequence. Yet it doesn’t need to be this way. Rather than focusing on the differences and inevitably debating their relative merits an alternative is to recognize what is held in Common. In distilling down to what most major religious systems hold central is the belief in a higher power, Supreme Being, or universal divine presence that is inclusive of all. This is not to advocate that all religious differences be abandoned and an über mega-religion be created in their place. Rather we want to promote the acceptance of those differences and more importantly acknowledge that there are core beliefs Common across religions. By focusing instead on what is held in Common this may engender more respect for the differences and reduce the tension they seem to otherwise promote. In our meditation this week we want to ask that an appreciation for the Commonality among different religions spread and proliferate across this country and around the world.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of how much is shared in Common across different beliefs? How does it feel when I recognize we have more in Common than is different in what others believe? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 5, 2010
For this Sunday, September 5th, the focus for our meditation will be on Innocence. One of the joys of being a child is the sense of wonder that can come from the simplest sources. Things that as adults we barely give a second glance to or even notice at all. The intricacy and amazing complexity of the petals on a flower, the entertainment value of watching a tiny ant performing the basic chore of trying to carry a crumb of food, or the feeling of total serenity that comes from laying in the grass on a warm summer day and watching the changing shapes of clouds that pass overhead. It is amazing how much pleasure these experiences could bring, filling hours of uninterrupted joy and contentment by merely taking time to fully appreciate a simple moment in life. Then something happens to change all that. We grow up and are taught to believe that we should be smart and sophisticated. Events that often are accompanied by trial and sadness leave us feeling older and more world-weary. We appear to lose our sense of Innocence and wonder in the world around us as we find ourselves hurrying after what we think are more important goals in life. But the Innocence remains, buried inside all the more complex layers we adopt as we mature. In our meditation this week we want to pause and recognize the state of Innocence that still resides within us. Let us take time to try and recapture a moment of Innocence this week and appreciate how it can help to restore us in spirit, mind, and body.
As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits. Feel yourself make contact with the person on each side of you in the circle by taking their hand -- one to the right and one to the left. Feel the energy of the group grow as you make this connections.
7, 2008" for explanation) with the intent of sending the energy of Innocence across the nation.
The way to do this is to perceive in your body how the quality of Innocence feels. Ask yourself how do I feel when I recall a moment of Innocence from my youth? How does it feel in my body when I am able to recapture the wonder that accompanies that state of Innocence?

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Aug. 29, 2010
For this Sunday, August 29th, the focus for our meditation will be on Celebration. The list of holidays and commemorative days observed around the world is incredibly diverse. There are holidays in honor of important events in each nation's history as well as for each religion. One of the most universal events Celebrated globally is one's birthday. It is a time to revel in joy at the miracle of one's presence here on earth. A Chinese acupuncturist I know once told me every day should be welcomed as though it is your birthday. It brings a different feeling to the start of each day, awakening as though it is a special event and one worthy of Celebration. In our meditation this week we want to acknowledge how precious is each day of our life and to "seize the day" by recognizing that each day is truly worthy of Celebration.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am looking forward with excitement to a Celebration? How does it feel when I take part in a Celebration of some special event? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Aug. 22, 2010
For this Sunday, August 22nd, the focus for our meditation will be on Dependability. To be Dependable implies someone can be counted on to follow through on their promises. In 1999 a former economics professor named Dr. Muhammad Yunus wrote a book titled, “Banker to the Poor.” In it he describes his efforts to help eradicate poverty by creating a micro-lending program for the very poor of Bangladesh. Prior to his lending program the poor and especially women were unable to borrow from traditional banks because they did not own any property to secure the loan as collateral. He describes the reaction of traditional bankers to his proposals to lend small amounts of money to the poor to enable them to develop businesses that would sustain them and eventually lead them out of poverty. The bankers were convinced his program would fail because the very poor could not be trusted to repay the loans. Counter to almost everyone’s expectations the program resulted in unheard of levels of loan repayments that far exceeded those of traditional collateralized loans to far more fortunate individuals. The poor borrowers, given the opportunity, demonstrated without a doubt their trustworthiness and Dependability. This week in our meditation we want to examine whether there are people we have too readily dismissed as not being Dependable and who may simply need an opportunity to be shown more trust. In addition, are there occasions where we find ourselves not following through on our own word? The hectic pace of our world can so easily intrude and get in the way of what we may have pledged to others. Are there changes we need to make to increase our level of Dependability to others? Are there aspects to our life that we have too easily allowed to interfere with our Dependability?
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am following through with my intentions and being Dependable? How does it feel when I recognize others who are Dependable? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Aug. 15, 2010
For this Sunday, August 15th, the focus for our meditation will be on Intuition. A dear friend of mind, Jennifer Halls, has the rather unusual profession of being an Intuitive Coach [you can find a link to Jennifer's site on the top left corner of the Meditation Project blog]. Her work helps clients get more in touch with their inner wisdom, that little voice we all have inside ourselves that helps us make better decisions, solve problems, and more importantly broaden our perspective on life. As her web site points out, numerous respected scientists, thinkers, executives and others credit intuition for their accomplishments. It is something we all possess, yet all too often we fail to recognize that "inner knowing;" if we only paid attention to it life would be a lot easier. I firmly believe that if we all gave consideration to our Intuition before making key choices it would result in our exercising far better judgment. Goodness knows just scanning newspaper headlines these days it seems there would be far fewer problems if everyone exercised even just slightly better judgment in their words and actions. This week in our meditation we want to ask that people across this nation become more aware of and willing to access their inner wisdom and rely on Intuition to better guide them.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am in touch with the inner wisdom that I call Intuition? How does it feel when I recognize the inner voice that helps me use Intuition to make better decisions? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Aug. 8, 2010
For this Sunday, August 8th, the focus for our meditation will be on Humility. When true Humility is present it signifies the acknowledgement that there is something greater than oneself. In the absence of Humility one's actions are driven by ego, and this becomes a common source of discord and unrest. Think about how many wars and other violent acts over the centuries have been motivated by ego. If only those whose actions were prompted by ego could have instead recognized a desire for Humility these conflicts may never have occurred. While some might say Humility reflects how insignificant we are I propose it instead reflects the grandeur of the universe and acknowledges that we are a part of that. Rather than emphasizing worthlessness it fosters a sense that we are actually greater as a consequence of contributing in a small way to the vastness around us. By embracing Humility one's motivations become extended beyond the limitations of our own sphere. We are able instead to embrace and support actions that benefit a larger whole. In our meditation this week we want to ask that a desire for true Humility be encouraged in our own thoughts and actions. At the same time please ask that a desire for more Humility be extended across this nation.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am acting with true Humility? How does it feel when I recognize I am part of a greater whole and am able to embrace a sense of Humility as a result? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Aug. 1, 2010
For this Sunday, August 1st, the focus for our meditation will be on Inquiry. Our nation continually is faced with a never-ending process of decision-making regarding various reforms, changes in or adoptions of new regulations and policies, strategic directions to take, etc. The vast machinery of government is kept busy addressing these issues; however, it doesn't deal with them in isolation. Instead, we have a form of government that is supposed to be responsive to the wishes of its constituency. Our elected officials work to stay in touch with the citizens they represent but a common problem they face is the issue of complacency or apathy among the populace. All too often a "vocal minority" is the only voice heard by those in office. This week we want to use our period of meditation and reflection to promote the desire for Inquiry among all citizens. By furthering an interest in Inquiry more individuals will be prompted to educate themselves on the issues facing our country and then be motivated to communicate their informed views to policy-makers. The objective through the process of Inquiry is to bring more balance and reason to the input received by our elected officials at all levels across the nation.
As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits.
7, 2008" for explanation) with the intent of sending the energy of Inquiry across the nation.
The way to do this is to perceive in your body how the quality of Inquiry feels. Ask yourself how do I feel when I am Inquiring about an issue? How does it feel in my body when I am engaged in the process of Inquiry to educate myself on a topic?

Meditation Instructions for Sun., July 25, 2010
For this Sunday, July 25th, the focus for our meditation will be on Vision. A popular modern activity born from Native American practices is to go on a "Vision Quest." This is a process one follows to strengthen the connection to Spirit and to help identify one's purpose in life. All too often we seem to operate instead on a form of "automatic pilot" in which we slog our way through our never-ending list of items to be done. We get so focused on the minutiae of our everyday life that sometimes we lose sight of our greater purpose for being here. In having a Vision one acknowledges the natural correspondences that exist between this world and the spiritual planes. Our Vision should help us recognize the course to follow in order to achieve the higher good that is our true potential in life. This week we want to examine whether we hold a Vision that helps reconnect us to Spirit. Additionally, we want to ask that this nation consider its Vision for the future and what is needed to stay on the right path to achieving our country's true potential.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware I have a Vision of my greater purpose in life? How does it feel when I recognize my connection to Spirit through a Vision of my true potential. Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., July 18, 2010
For this Sunday, July 18th, the focus for our meditation will be on Dedication. To be Dedicated implies a commitment often over a length of time to something in which you believe. It is a belief so deep and abiding that it alters your behavior and can reprioritize your goals and objectives as to how you want to carry out your life. Developing a sense of Dedication to a particular cause sometimes comes about as a result of life-changing events. Organizations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure began when the loss of a family member spurred relatives to prevent these events from recurring. They began out of Dedication to a particular cause or belief. Each of us may or may not feel a sense of Dedication to something in our lives. Those who do find it highly motivating and even inspirational to commit to something they believe in so firmly. In our meditation this week we want to examine where in our lives we want to feel a sense of commitment and Dedication that is worthy of our efforts. Additionally, we want to foster across this nation a sense of Dedication to those principles that will help our country continue to progress in the right direction.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I have Dedication to something? How does it feel when I hold a commitment to a belief so deeply that it brings about a sense of Dedication? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., July 11, 2010
For this Sunday, July 11th, the focus for our meditation will be on Patience. We examined this principle back in January of 2009 but with more of a focus on our then newly-elected government. This week we want to examine the notion of Patience in our own lives. Someone recently questioned why I bother growing my own vegetable garden. Most of the time I would respond things taste better when they are home grown, and they do. There's a world of difference between a tomato picked fresh off the vine from a home garden and one trucked or flown in from across the country. However, in the area where I live that isn't a sufficient excuse as there is an abundance of locally grown produce available in our area. This individual questioned why I bothered to grow something that was readily available in similar quality and for likely the same cost after you figure in materials such as plants and fertilizers and the expense of one's time. They noted that because I planted my garden a little later this year I have to wait some time before even the first tomato will become available. But to me it is well worth the wait. I am willing to be Patient for the garden to slowly grow over weeks before it finally produces fruit. Once it does, there is a huge sense of self-satisfaction in harvesting something I have produced myself. In our own lives this week we want to examine where we invest our time and efforts. Is what I produce worth the wait required to see what is harvested? Do I need more Patience in order for something to achieve its full potential?
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I exercise Patience? How does it feel when I am able to be Patient for something I know will be worth the wait? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., July 4, 2010
For this Sunday, July 4th, the focus for our meditation will be on Order. To have to follow various rules, regulations and laws may at times seem restrictive and an imposition, but the absence of any controls would likely result in utter chaos. These restrictions are needed to maintain Order in society; however they need to be created and enforced with a sense of balance so as not to present undue hardships on any particular sector. We have seen in recent years an increase in groups who want to withdraw from society and abandon all need for rules and regulations. Sometimes they take an extreme form and resort to violence to express their opposition to a controlling government. While there are a lot of freedoms allowed by our government, the complete abolition of laws would obviously be ill-advised. This week we want to examine where across our nation, our communities, or in our own lives we see the presence of potential chaos. Then in our prayer and meditation we want to ask that we willingly accept the need for controls that help bring Order.
Ask for those in the spiritual realm (especially the nation's Founding Fathers) who want to assist us in this project to be present.
7, 2008" for explanation) with the intent of sending the energy of Order across the nation.
The way to do this is to perceive in your body how the quality of Order feels. Ask yourself how do I feel when there is Order in my life? How does it feel in my body I am able to clear away chaos and replace it with Order instead? Hold that sensation and allow it to intensify as you feed that energy to the grid or network with each breath.
Stage 4:
Close by disconnecting from the group circle. Feel as though you release the hand of the person next to you and feel yourself break from the group.
Stage 5:
Thank your guidance and those in the spiritual realm for coming to assist you in this endeavor. Ask them to continue this work from their plane on your behalf throughout the week.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., June 27, 2010
For this Sunday, June 27th, the focus for our meditation will be on Perspective. There is a psychological concept known as "reframing" in which one takes a situation or context and tries to see it in a different, often more positive, "frame." A simple example would be when someone cuts you off in traffic. Rather than becoming angry and instantly tagging the other person as rude and inconsiderate, you try to reinterpret the situation and raise the possibility there was an emergency and they were rushing to get to a hospital. This allows someone to adopt a new Perspective on a situation and can be instrumental in maintaining a healthy emotional as well as physical state of being. In our meditation this week we want to examine whether there are aspects to our life that could benefit by being seen from a different Perspective. Is there a situation with work, friends, family, our financial state, etc., that may seem perpetually stuck as a contributing source of negativity in our life? If so, take this opportunity to try and reframe this situation into an alternative that is more positive. Try to gain a new Perspective on things and see what a difference it can make.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am seeing things with a fresh Perspective? How does it feel when I am able to adopt a different view that brings a more positive Perspective? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., June 20, 2010
For this Sunday, June 20th, the focus for our meditation will again be on Cleansing. This week, however, we want to acknowledge the symbolism of water as representing our emotions. Like water, emotions can run deep within us or rush out in a sudden explosion of feelings. Similarly, they can also become contaminated and blocked by "sludge." As we continue to focus our efforts on sending Cleansing light to the waters of the Gulf Coast region we want to examine where we may carry our own internal emotional sludge. What are the sources in our life that emotionally contaminate us? What holds us back and makes us cling to rather than release these blockages? This week in our prayer and meditation efforts we want to send light and energy to Cleanse the waters of the Gulf Coast and at the same time direct this Cleansing light to help clear our own internal emotional body of water.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and especially direct the brightness of its rays over the Gulf Coast. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am being Cleansed? How does it feel when I am able to release and Cleanse my body of what blocks me emotionally? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation and especially the Gulf Coast.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., June 13, 2010
For this Sunday, June 13th, the focus for our meditation will be on Cleansing. The situation in the Gulf Coast with the oil spill appears to be worsening in magnitude and scope well beyond initial estimates. I recently read an account that claimed this spill would reach eight times the size of the Exxon Valdez disaster. It is unlikely we will ever know the true volume of how much oil has been released into the ocean, but it doesn't matter. Our focus now needs to be on efforts to repair and prevent further damage. One of my teachers, Rev. Rosalyn L. Bruyere, has spoken of an effort years ago to clean up the then badly polluted Potomac River in Washington, D.C. Official estimates said the clean up effort would take at least ten years (and millions of dollars) to complete. Despite the skepticism of such "officials" one group chose instead to pray over the river. As a result, the clean-up effort was vastly accelerated and accomplished in only a fraction of the time and cost. This led to a mantra that Rev. Bruyere often cites, which is, "The solution to pollution is dilution." We can truly make a difference in the Gulf region by sending prayers that the contamination in these waters be diluted and Cleansed. The energy of our prayer and meditation is able to dilute the massive and widely dispersed oil spill in a way that skimmer boats never can. We also want to ask in our meditation efforts this week that the animals and people who depend on these ocean waters be protected and allowed to thrive once more.
How does it feel when I do something that Cleanses and rejuvenates my body? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation and especially the Gulf Coast.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., June 6, 2010
For this Sunday, June 6th, the focus for our meditation will be on Forgiveness. I once heard a wonderful African teacher named Sobonfu Somé [whose web site has been added to the Meditation Project links] use the following analogy to make a very insightful point about anger and hatred. She said when we hold onto anger or hatred towards someone it is as though we invited that person over for tea and decide to serve them a poisoned drink to get back at them. We pour two servings of tea in the kitchen and then place poison in the cup for the other person but as we carry them into the living room we forget which one has the poison and we drink it instead. In other words, by being consumed with such hatred and anger we only end up poisoning ourselves. This week we want to examine where we may be harming ourselves by being unable to let go of hurt, anger or hatred. This extends well beyond just interpersonal relationships. Some people hold hatred for others of a particular race or ethnicity. Some people are incredibly angry about issues such as what they see their government officials doing or not doing. Regardless of the source, this is a powerfully destructive emotion every human being has to deal with in their lifetime. In our prayer and meditation this week we want to ask that we be shown how to release any anger or hatred and instead find a means to extend true Forgiveness to others and ultimately to ourselves.
As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits. Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 30, 2010
For this Sunday, May 30th, the focus for our meditation will be on Enjoyment. Have you ever known someone who had a possession so special they felt reluctant to use it? Most of us know someone who has that "special" set of china, for instance, that they want to save for only exceptional occasions. Some people take this to extreme forms and hoard objects they want to use "someday" but can never bring themselves to actually ever take out and employ. As a result, the items often decay or go bad and in the meantime the person denies themselves the Enjoyment they could have obtained from them. Last week we focused on prosperity and this week we want to realize that in order for us to truly feel prosperous we need to fully appreciate and Enjoy the riches we are given in this life. This is not about reckless spending as though there were no tomorrows but more about relishing what you already have. Don't put it off for that future "special" occasion that may never come -- instead, wear those items you have been saving for a rare event, get out the precious china for an everyday family meal, and choose an ordinary day to seek ways to gain every bit of Enjoyment from what you already possess.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am feeling true Enjoyment with what I already have? What does it feel like when I realize how much Enjoyment I deserve to experience in this life? How does it make me feel when I am aware there is much around me that can bring me real Enjoyment? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
