Meditation Instructions for Sun., March 25, 2018

For this Sunday, March 25th, the focus for our meditation will be on Safety.  Abraham Maslow postulated a theory known as the “hierarchy of needs” that made an important contribution to our understanding of human psychology.  It states basic essential needs, such as food, shelter, Safety, etc., must be met before an individual can progress in their development and learning.  If I do not get enough to eat or cannot find shelter against the elements it is unlikely I will be able to focus my attention on mastering other life skills necessary to evolve into a fully contributing member of society.  Many of us go through life never having to experience such essential threats such as real hunger, homelessness, or physical danger.  It can be difficult to fathom what it is like for those who do face such hazards.  When I was a grade school student I recall participating in occasional air raid drills at school.  A bell would signal the start of the drill and students would troop into the hallways and crouch down against the inner walls until the “all clear” was announced.  It is laughable now to think those drills were presumably to make us ready in the event of a nuclear bomb.  There certainly is no recollection of any fear or distress associated with the experience.  The likelihood of a nuclear bomb being dropped on our school was a vague, distant threat that didn’t seem real.  I can’t imagine what it must be like for students today who face a genuine threat of violence in their schools.  It is inconceivable to me that I would have to try and concentrate and learn in an environment where at any moment we could find ourselves under an actual attack.  The pervasive situation with school violence is a concerning one, and I by no means have the answer.  What I do have is the capability to pray, and I ask that this week in our prayer and meditation time we all focus our efforts on seeking a solution to this endemic problem.  Let us ask that a way be found to help children feel Safe and protected, especially in their schools.  May we all agree to work together to find an answer that helps our young people be free to develop into the best human beings they can be and thus secure the future of our entire nation.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I know I am totally protected and Safe from harm?  How does it feel in my body when I appreciate the importance of Safety in my environment for me to function optimally?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., March 18, 2018

For this Sunday, March 18th, the focus for our meditation will be on Clarity.  Sometimes when we are dealing with a problem it can be challenging to gather all the information and sift through it to identify what is most needed to bring a solution.  It is easy to become lost in the weeds of the details and be unable to see relevant patterns and trends.  It is similar to trying to see the bottom of a shallow pond or a stream bed when the water is being stirred up, causing the silt to form a cloud that obscures your ability to see.  To gain Clarity you must first let the waters settle around you.  In life we may be better off not flailing about with trying to grasp all the details of an issue, some of which may not even prove to be important in the end.  Instead, we may find it easier if we enter into a state of calm quietude and let the sundry facts sort themselves out.  From that space of tranquility our vision becomes sharper, and we gain the Clarity we need to see the bigger picture.  This week in our prayer and meditation let us ask to be aided in those times when we are struggling to find a resolution to a problem.  May divine assistance guide us to a state of calm confidence that brings needed Clarity to our perspective and helps us see what really matters.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I see with a sharp Clarity that allows me to recognize what is most important?  How does it feel in my body when I am able to sift through confusing details and gain needed Clarity that identifies a solution to a problem?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., March 11, 2018

For this Sunday, March 11th, the focus for our meditation will be on Forgiveness.  A few years ago I was at a party where one of the attendees was a young woman named Priscilla Keresey whom I had known since grade school.  Priscilla wasn’t my contemporary but was several years behind me, and I hadn’t seen her in decades.  As we got caught up over conversation I was amazed to learn she had become a psychic medium who was able to speak to spirits who had crossed over (check her out at http://apracticalpsychic.com/).  Priscilla casually mentioned having written some books about her experiences, and although it took me some time I finally sought them out and recently began reading them.  The stories are funny, moving, encouraging and often contained a repeated message from our loved ones “on the other side” that we are better off not wasting time being so judgmental of ourselves and others.  Many of the spirits she brings through for her clients echo the same message – let go of anger, resentment and grudges, for they don’t serve you.  Additionally, even though many of these people had been difficult to live with, in spirit they lose that sense of criticism and urge their loved ones to be more Forgiving, especially with themselves.  We all have an internal critic, and for some it can be relentless in never wanting to let go of past mistakes.  When we allow that internal voice to continually berate us it can rob us of our self-esteem and confidence and keep us from being able to move forward.  The internal critic wants to keep us in the past, constantly replaying some misstep that occurred.  The messages that come through from spirit remind us that once this life is over we will see how unnecessary all this angst and self-flagellation can be.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us look at ourselves with greater compassion and be guided to Forgiveness for any failings we may be unable to release.  Let us asked to be shown how to grant as well as receive Forgiveness so we are able to move forward and not remain stuck in past mistakes.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I have been able to Forgive myself and release past failings?  How does it feel in my body when I am able to accept my mistakes and move on knowing I am worth of being Forgiven?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., March 4, 2018

For this Sunday, March 4th, the focus for our meditation will be on Connection.  A few years ago a mother posted on her blog about her child’s teacher, and her ingenious way of preventing bullying in her class.  At the end of each week the teacher asks each student to write down the names of four students they would like to sit with the following week.  The purpose is not to organize seating charts but to pick out trends or patterns that might identify out a student who has no friends or is feeling lost.  She looks for those who are never listed as someone to sit with or those who don’t even know others well enough to request a name.  She began this habit after the Columbine school massacre as a way of making sure lonely, isolated children are given the extra attention needed to make them feel more Connected to others.  To me, this loss of Connection seems so profoundly at the heart of our society’s current ills.  Our young people seem more attached to their electronic devices than each other, and many believe the lack of meaningful interpersonal Connections may be contributing to the increasingly frequent outbreaks of violence.  The creation of Connections is something we all can do something about in our immediate environments.  If we all took time to notice others around us who may appear lonely or overlooked and reached out it could make a significant difference in the life of another person.  The Connection does not have to impose any burden; simply making eye contact and saying hello or asking another person how they are doing might be enough to make that individual feel they are not being ignored.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us ask to be gently directed to notice those around us who may feel isolated and be shown opportunities to establish caring Connections with them.  May all across this country feel motivated to reach out to those they might otherwise overlook and help them feel a genuine Connection to others that enriches their life.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I appreciate how my Connection to others helps enrich my life?  How does it feel in my body when I take time to make a Connection in a way that creates a sincere feeling of support for another person?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
