For this Sunday, February 28th, the focus for our meditation will be on Connection. In the past we have focused on the notion of interconnectedness with each other. This week we want to direct our attention to recognizing the Connection we have with a Divine Presence. Whatever your belief system, most people are aware of the presence of a spiritual power greater than each of us. Although there are times when we may not be conscious of the presence of Spirit it is always there guiding and assisting us. If we purposely focus our attention on the presence of God or Spirit in our lives that Connection can be strengthened. By increasing the Connection to Spirit we help keep ourselves better aligned with the spiritual forces that govern our universe. There is a spiritual teaching that goes, "As above, so below." One interpretation is that we should strive to act here on earth in a manner that is more perfectly in reflection with what exists in the divine universe. This week we want to focus our meditation efforts on strengthening this Connection not only for ourselves but also for our nation and thereby work to bring us all in closer alignment with Spirit.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of my Connection to Spirit? What does it feel like in the moments when I can truly feel my Connection to a Divine Presence? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Feb. 21, 2010
For this Sunday, February 21st, the focus for our meditation will be on Triumph. There is a Nike commercial being played during the Olympics that shows a montage of athletes who have faced potential defeat but continued on despite the momentary setback. The ad slogan proclaims that a real winner is defined by how quickly someone gets back up. You certainly don't have to be a competitive athlete to experience adversity in your life -- everyone does sooner or later. Perhaps you can think back to moments when you faced a crisis or had to weather a period of turmoil and hardship in your life. Looking back reflectively you may be able to identify some positive benefit that you took away from the experience. A book I've recently been reading describes people who overcame amazing odds when faced with true peril and yet managed to survive. The common characteristics they all possessed were the ability to not succumb to a desire to give up, the optimism to believe there had to be a way out, and the fortitude to keep working to find a resolution. In our meditation this week we want to reflect on where we have been successful in achieving Triumph over adversity and to bring what we have learned from the experience into our character so we overcome the next hurdle we may face. At the same time, consider what challenges our own country has had to meet and what is needed for us to Triumph as a nation going forward.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I have Triumphed over adversity? What does it feel like when I am able to pick myself up from a setback and Triumph going forward? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Feb. 14, 2010
For this Sunday, January 31st, the focus for our meditation will be on Awareness. Our capability for introspection, to pause and search internally to find what brings the greatest meaning in our lives, is fundamental to knowing what is truly important. Despite being social beings everyone needs time for self-reflection, meditation, and the process of an inner examination that helps us become more Aware of what is most significant in our lives. As we realize that we are here on earth as part of a greater spiritual journey one of our tasks is to acquire the Awareness needed to hear what is spoken in one's soul. Hearing that voice is more challenging when we are swept up in the external business of making a living, going about our daily routines, etc. It requires one to pause momentarily, seek inwardly, and exercise patience in waiting for that voice to be heard. When we take time to become Aware we attain the enlightenment required to better understand the purpose of our spiritual journey. As we consider this concept of Awareness this week we also want to examine what serves to distract us from being more Aware. What is in our lives that may interfere with our desire for greater Awareness?
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, create the brilliant star-like light over the nation and extend blue rays to its four borders, then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am being introspective and Aware internally? What does it feel like when I am experiencing total Awareness? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., Feb. 7, 2010
For this Sunday, February 7th, the focus for our meditation will be on Self-Control. Last week we focused on passion and how that can serve to motivate us. This week we want to examine how passion without Self-Control can turn negative, coursing into recklessness instead. In our quest for passion and what makes us feel more fully alive we want to realize the importance of will in choosing whether or how to act on our desires. In exerting Self-Control we maintain more balance and avoid the highs and lows of excess and obsession. Our country faces a similar challenge. How do we recognize when we need to act in the world and when we may be better served holding back and allowing other nations to sort things out for themselves? This week we want to examine where in our own lives as well as for our nation we need to exert Self-Control and thereby bring more balance to our pursuit of passion.
As a reminder, we typically form as a group in our focused meditation every Sunday from 12:15 to 12:30 pm (Eastern time) and return to bring more energy to the same theme throughout the week as time permits. If you are unable to participate at that particular time there are instructions posted on how to energetically contribute at either an earlier or later time (please see "Instructions for Meditating at Alternate Dates or Times" posted on August 21, 2008). A few minutes before 12:15 you may want to get into your meditation posture and begin the relaxation phase.
Stage 1:
Sit (or lay down) so that you are relaxed and comfortable but your spine is straight and aligned over your pelvis (if seated). Begin by taking several slow, deep breaths. Follow the sensation of the breath down into your body. Breathe into your spine, your hips, and then your legs. Feel the breath reach your feet on the floor and then feel the connection through your feet to the earth's energy. Draw the earth's energy up through your feet into your body. Feel your body fill completely with this energy from your breath and the earth. Invite your own personal spiritual guides to join you in the meditation. Ask for those in the spiritual realm (especially the nation's Founding Fathers) who want to assist us in this project to be present. If you have trouble feeling centered and fully in your body or feeling grounded to the earth ask Guidance to help you.
Stage 2:
Stay relaxed and begin to make a connection with the others in the group by perceiving that we are present in the same room and formed in a circle. Feel yourself make contact with the person on each side of you in the circle by taking their hand -- one to the right and one to the left. Feel the energy of the group grow as you make this connection. Recognize there are groups all over who are doing similar activities with the same intention. We are connected to them as well as to each other. Feel the grid or network that is created from this energetic connection. We receive energy from it as we feed energy to it.
Stage 3:
Place a brilliant white light over the center of the country. Extend blue rays out from the center of that light in the four directions (north, south, east, and west). The blue rays fill the country from border to border and sea to sea. Connect to the energetic grid or network created across the circle. Use that grid to direct energy to the manitou of the nation [see "Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 7, 2008" for explanation] with the intent of sending the energy of Self-Control across the nation.
The way to do this is to perceive in your body how the quality of Self-Control feels. Ask yourself how do I feel when I realize I have the ability to Control my desires? How does it feel in my body when I am acting with Self-Control? Hold that sensation and allow it to intensify as you feed that energy to the grid or network with each breath.
Stage 4:
Close by disconnecting from the group circle. Feel as though you release the hand of the person next to you and feel yourself break from the group.
Stage 5:
Thank your guidance and those in the spiritual realm for coming to assist you in this endeavor. Ask them to continue this work from their plane on your behalf throughout the week. If you are able, you may want to repeat this process throughout the week, focusing on bringing light and energy to the meditation topic. When you do, connect to the same network or grid of energy created by the group at the original meditation session. Direct your intention to help support and grow that group energy. Be sure to disconnect from the group at the end.
