Meditation Instructions for Sun., January 3, 2021

For this Sunday, January 3rd, the focus for our meditation will be on Hope.  Writer and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel once wrote, “Even in darkness it is possible to create light.”  If ever someone had experienced a period of darkness it was Wiesel who survived internments in both Auschwitz and Buchenwald during the Holocaust.  We are coming out of our own period of darkness with the indescribable events of 2020.  Not only did we experience a global pandemic but also saw an unprecedented level of political divisiveness during our national election.  However, Hope is clearly on the horizon.  Our travails of the past year have galvanized many to take action to foster more bipartisan cooperation.  Grass roots organizations have sprung up to initiate meaningful dialogue between opposing groups.  And best of all we have the promise of an effective vaccine soon to be accessible to everyone.  There is definitely light at the end of this long, dark tunnel.  Even as we celebrate the beginning of another new year while still in the darkness of winter, we have crossed the solstice mark and are slowly seeing each day lengthen and become brighter.  Astrologically the coming year brings the potential for a significant shift, and I am confident we can nudge that in the direction of the light if we hold on a bit longer and do not give up Hope.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us use the energy of our prayers to purposely bring light and Hope into our world.  May we ask to be sustained in our faith with the knowledge that our ability to Hope will carry us through the darkness and back into the light.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I have a firm sense of Hope for the future even in the midst of darkness?  How does it feel in my body when I can hold on to Hope no matter what I have been through?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., December 20, 2020

For this Sunday, December 20th, the focus for our meditation will be on Gratitude.  I wonder if when Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, wrote, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” he had any inkling how relevant this beloved story would become.  This year has taken so much away from us.  We have lost friends, colleagues and loved ones to a global pandemic.  People have had their businesses and life savings dissolve before their eyes.  Many have become unemployed and are struggling to put food on the table never mind find the means to fulfill a child’s wish list of gifts.  Yet, just as the people of Whoville in the classic tale awaken on Christmas morning to gather and celebrate the day we, too, can find the means to recognize all for which we want to be Grateful in our lives.  We may not be able to gather in person with friends and family to celebrate, but we can still feel their presence in our heart.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us focus on all that we do have rather than that which we have lost.  Let us fill our hearts with Gratitude for health, friendship, and the support of Spirit that is always present to help us through difficult times.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I can identify even something small in my life for which I have Gratitude?  How does it feel in my body when I am able to focus with Gratitude on all that I do have rather than what I may have lost?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., December 13, 2020

For this Sunday, December 13th, the focus for our meditation will be on Caregivers.  The recent widespread uptick in COVID-19 cases is considered to result from a combination of multiple factors.  Colder weather is forcing more meetings indoors, families and friends were unable to resist the temptation to gather at Thanksgiving, and people are growing weary of the ongoing restrictions.  Imagine, though, the weariness of health Care workers.  They operate day in and day out under extremely stressful conditions with the threat of a potentially fatal disease hanging over their heads.  They see the brutal toll this disease has on patients as well as their colleagues.  There are also many frontline workers who make it possible for Caregivers to function safely and properly who operate behind the scenes and seldom, if ever, receive any public attribution.  Think of the staff who maintain our medical facilities or the crews responsible for cleaning hospital rooms, changing linens, and laundering needed supplies.  They all contribute in some way to providing needed lifesaving Care to others, yet we often take them for granted and just assume they will be there when our need arises.  As the world continues in its struggle to rein in this pandemic let us take time this week in our prayer and meditation to send light and energy to Caregivers everywhere.  May the support of our prayers help lift them up and sustain those medical Caregivers working tirelessly to ensure everyone’s survival.  Additionally, if you haven’t already done so, please be sure to reach out in some way to our vital Caregivers and express your appreciation!

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I am grateful for having access to good quality medical Caregivers who help restore my health when needed?  How does it feel in my body when I take time to show my appreciation for the ongoing efforts of medical Caregivers to let them know I Care about them?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., December 6, 2020

For this Sunday, December 6th, the focus for our meditation will be on Charity.  Those Charitable organizations that help serve the underprivileged, the homeless, or families struggling to adequately feed themselves are being particularly hard-hit this year because of the pandemic.  Fundraiser events they relied on heavily in the past to sustain their programs were canceled or significantly scaled back at the same time that they faced a growing need for their services.  Many have lost the assistance of volunteers who are not able to participate in group activities because of the need for physical distancing.  As a result, paid staff are being stretched thin by having to take on volunteer duties in addition to their own.  Most of us have not been immune to the financial pressures of this pandemic, but those who rely on the aid of Charitable groups are facing an even greater strain.  With diminishing resources and an increasing need for assistance the threads that hold our social service networks together are becoming frayed.  I’m not a big believer in federal government handouts and instead support a model where local communities take responsibility for those less fortunate among them.  If people at a community level contribute even just a small amount of any excess resources they have, whether financial or material, that excess can be distributed to those in need.  You don’t have to be a wealthy philanthropist to make a difference.  Many small contributions truly do add up.  This holiday season, please consider finding a local Charity that you can do something for to help their mission.  If you can donate even just five dollars, or have extra clothing or other possessions, please share what you have with these groups.  Consider contributing online to a local toy drive or food bank.  There are so many ways we can help, even under our present circumstances of not being able to gather together.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us ask to be guided as to how we may assist others in need of Charity.  May we come to recognize the abundance many of us have and how we are always able to share even a little with someone who has far less.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I appreciate the importance of being Charitable to those in need?  How does it feel in my body when I recognize the abundance I have and am happy to Charitably share even a small amount with others?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
