Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 1, 2016

For this Sunday, May 1st, the focus for our meditation will be on Adventure. It is so easy with the hectic life we lead to fall into a routine that never offers us a challenge in terms of adaptability.  We have all the modern conveniences and the predictability of day-to-day patterns that can insulate us from being stretched beyond our comfort zone.  By contrast, consider the Adventure some of our ancestors experienced when they chose to board a ship for an ocean crossing for what they hoped would be a better life in a new land.  Or, those Adventurous settlers who made the hazardous journey across the plains and Rocky Mountains to seek fortune during the Gold Rush.  With such Adventure there may be inherent risks but also unimaginable rewards.  Being on the cusp of an Adventure can bring a sense of invigorating excitement along with some trepidation as to what awaits.  Forcing ourselves to face the unknown in this way demands not only flexibility but also puts us in a position of having to tap inner resources that might otherwise remain dormant.  We discover new aspects to ourselves and come through an Adventure having expanded our capabilities.  How would you like to create Adventure in your life?  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us ask if there is a way even in the routine of modern life to experience Adventure that brings us growth.  May we be shown how to use Adventure to explore our inner strengths and reveal our untapped potential.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I have experienced a stirring Adventure in my life?  How does it feel in my body when I realize the growth that can occur from taking part in an Adventure?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 24, 2016

For this Sunday, April 24th, the focus for our meditation will be on Spirit.  Sean Stephenson (seanstephenson.com) is a board-certified therapist, author, popular blogger and YouTube contributor, and a motivational speaker whose self-appointed mission is to rid the world of insecurity.  He has met with countless celebrities, politicians and religious leaders in his travels.  Oh, and he happens to reach a height of about three feet and is in a wheelchair.  Born with a rare bone disorder that stunted his growth and left him looking (to some) deformed, his appearance does at first tend to catch one by surprise.  I’ll admit that what led me to initially click on one of his videos was my curiosity about his unusual appearance.  Interestingly, now that I’ve become familiar with watching his videos, I no longer see the so-called oddity about him.  For me, the strongest connection comes through his soulful eyes and his deeply thoughtful commentary on life.  He has no doubt had many challenges in his life, but you wouldn’t know it to listen to him.  Instead of seeing pain or resentment or self-loathing, what you see is his tremendous Spirit.  His words are intended to educate, comfort and inspire others.  He shares his life lessons and despite many hardships has not allowed them to dampen his Spirit.  It is a reminder for us all to consider how we project our Spirit to the world.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us appraise whether the Spirit we reveal to others truly represents who we are.  Let us ask to be gently guided at those times when we are not at our best to bring forth the Spirit of our higher self and allow that to shine through us instead.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I am aware of what I project to others in my Spirit?  How does it feel in my body when I recognize the power of showing others a Spirit that reveals the best I have to offer?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 17, 2016

For this Sunday, April 17th, the focus for our meditation will be on Trust.  People’s lack of confidence in our government and our nation’s future appears to be at an all-time high.  This pessimism is especially endemic among young people who believe the future offers little in the way of hope or opportunity for improvement.  Few would dispute that we are in troubling times, and there is much that needs to be done to fix some of the ills we see across the country in daily headlines.  However, when we allow Distrust to fill our core it can too easily lead to apathy and indifference.  Why should we bother to try and make a difference for the better if a downhill slide is inevitable?  I don’t understand all the reasons why the younger generation in particular feels so skeptical of the future, nor do I know what the right solution may be.  But whenever circumstances seem dire and hopeless the one refuge we all have access to is prayer.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us ask that all those who lack confidence in our nation and their own future be filled with Trust that things will eventually work out.  May they come to see a broader outlook across the ages that helps put today’s challenges in perspective, and may they reconnect with a sense of Trust that encourages them never to give up hope for the future.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I am filled with a sense of Trust that challenges can be overcome?  How does it feel in my body when I am consumed with Trust that enables me to take action rather than succumb to passive apathy?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 10, 2016

For this Sunday, April 10th, the focus for our meditation will be on Leavening.  Most people think of Leavening in terms of the baking process when a substance is added to a mixture to initiate a fermentation process that will cause the dough to rise.  However, there is an alternative definition that means to permeate and modify or transform something for the better.  This reminds us that while transformation may often be present, it doesn’t necessarily mean it always leads to an improved result.  Whether it brings us to a higher state may depend on what someone uses for Leavening.  In other words, do we allow ourselves to be permeated with something that benefits us or something that hinders us?  This may require us to examine our lifestyle and environment to determine what we surround ourselves with and how it may ultimately impact us.  For example, if you find yourself constantly among people who are filled with negative thinking, or who love to gossip, or are prejudiced, we have to consider that at some point that frequent exposure may permeate and influence us in an undesirable fashion.  This realization may drive us to make significant changes in our life in our search to transform ourselves in a way that allows us to evolve and not devolve.  In our prayer and meditation time this week let us examine the environments we surround ourselves with in our personal and professional lives.  Let us ask to be given the ability to recognize when those environments may not be filling us with a Leaven that ultimately improves us and be gently guided how to make changes that instead help us progress.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I am aware of what permeates my surroundings and how it serves as Leavening that transforms me for the better?  How does it feel in my body when I desire to be immersed in an environment that Leavens me in a positive way?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 3, 2016

For this Sunday, April 3rd, the focus for our meditation will be on Self-Acceptance.  It is a natural human tendency for us to be our own worst critics.  We much more readily and harshly chastise ourselves for some fault or failing than we would ever think to do to a friend.  However, we are all far from perfect, and part of this human experience is getting to know and Accept ourselves thoroughly, warts and all.  Self-Acceptance doesn’t have to do with overlooking our flaws but is the complete opposite.  It means we have come face to face with those parts of us we hope others never discover and still manage to love ourselves anyway.  Sometimes it can feel difficult to be honest with others about our inner thoughts, likes and dislikes because we are afraid of being vulnerable and perhaps rejected if they discover our “true” nature.  However, rather than worrying about not being Accepted by others let us instead seek to Accept ourselves first as a more honest or genuine starting point to establish relationships with others.  If we can find that capability for Self-Acceptance within ourselves it can become the first step to holding more compassion for others.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us ask to be guided in being kinder with ourselves and how to be more willing to Accept who we are, even the parts we may wish didn’t exist.  Through greater Self-Acceptance may we learn to become more compassionate human beings and show others how to also be more understanding about their own shortcomings.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I am able to Accept all of who I am, even those aspects I sometimes wish didn’t exist?  How does it feel in my body when I am filled with Self-Acceptance that allows me to be compassionate and understanding not only with myself but also with others?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
