Meditation Instructions for Sun., Sept. 19, 2010

For this Sunday, September 19th, the focus for our meditation will be on Roots. Three events have converged this week to prompt our meditation theme. First, friends recently introduced me to a movie called "Iron Jawed Angels" about the suffragette movement that secured women's right to vote. Second, I have been listening to a CD set of talks given by teacher Sobonfu Some in which she talks about serving as the "keeper of the rituals" for her West African tribe. Third, I am preparing for an upcoming trip to London which always brings my thoughts to Dion Fortune and her Society of Inner Light and how I was inspired by her efforts to attempt this meditation project. In each instance there is a connection to those who came before us and serve as our Roots. This connection does not need to be familial but can come from recognizing the legacy we are left as a result of the struggles and sacrifices of others. In our meditation this week we want to honor those who have preceded us and consequently helped to improve our life in some way. We want to recognize the importance of our Roots and express appreciation for all they have done in making a positive impact on the generations that follow them.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am aware of my Roots and the contributions of those who preceded me? How does it feel when I recognize how I have benefited from a connection to those I consider to be my Roots? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
