For this Sunday, April 15th, the focus for our meditation will be on Grace. The concept of Grace in Christian theology refers to divine assistance that is unmerited. No matter who or what we are, God is always willing to love and accept us. While there may be some aspect to this that is true in terms of the capability for divine forgiveness, Dietrich Bonhoeffer held a different perspective on Grace. In his view, true Grace should be seen as something that requires personal sacrifice. Rather than slothfully proceeding through life without a care, assuming in the end God will ultimately forgive us for any wrongdoing, Bonhoeffer believed the presence of Grace actually spurs us to change ourselves for the better. Grace serves, in essence, as a metaphysical carrot and provides the motivation for us to want to change and do the best we are able. In acknowledging the presence of Grace one experiences the true nature of all the divine assistance that is available to us. We find ourselves filled with gratitude for this spiritual support and consequently want to please God by altering those lifestyles or habits that are hindering us from progressing. This week in our prayer and meditation let us consider the presence of Grace in our life. How do we recognize the availability of divine assistance, and what changes do we want to make as a result? In addition, let us consider the existence of divine Grace for our country, and how does it motivate us as a nation to improve what we are capable of becoming?
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I feel motivated by the presence of Grace and the divine assistance that is always available to me? What does it feel like when the spiritual support provided by Grace makes me want to become a better person? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
