For this Sunday, June 21st, the focus for our
meditation will be on Love. At an impressionable young age I read a book
titled, “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle. The main character is an adolescent girl who
has an adventure in which she has to confront an evil creature. To win the fight she is counseled to use that
which the creature does not have and eventually figures out the one thing it lacks
is Love. Armed with that knowledge she is able to be victorious. The events of this past week in Charleston,
South Carolina and particularly the forgiving response of the victims’ friends
and family show us once again that Love is
the most powerful weapon in the face of hatred.
I am not so naïve as to believe that Love completely eliminates the need for police officers or even standing
armies for defense of a nation. There
will likely always be the presence of real evil in the world that sometimes requires
the use of force for the protection of others.
But the greatest power capable of effecting lasting change in the world
is Love. This week in our prayer and meditation let us
use that time to proliferate Love across
the country beginning with our own communities.
Through the energy of our prayers may we fill this nation with light and
Love and thus vanquish the influence
of evil and hatred.
In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the
energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills
this nation. As we perform our
meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of
the light we create. Just as before,
begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost
impossible to look directly at it. Raise
this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down
to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch
of our country. From shore to shore and
border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense
light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country
and the people who live across its vast lands.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in
your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us,
and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.
Ask yourself how do I feel when I am so fully consumed with Love that nothing else can permeate me? How does it feel in my body when the power of
Love so fills me that I am buffered against
harm? Then send the energy and intention
of those feelings to the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express
thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
