Meditation Instructions for Sun., May 16, 2021

For this Sunday, May 16th, the focus for our meditation will be on Wounds.  This past year has inflicted many Wounds, and no one has been impervious to them.  People have suffered the loss of loved ones, the decline of health, financial hardships, the absence of close social and emotional support systems, etc.  How we deal with those Wounds will make a significant difference in our ability to move forward on our path.  We want to acknowledge them and allow ourselves to grieve while at the same time not fall victim to letting those Wounds define us.  I still wonder at the complete lack of any mention of the 1918 influenza epidemic and its impact on my grandparents who lived through it.  Other people I know with grandparents of the same generation say that they, too, never heard them talk about it.  That generation got through it and then went on with their lives.  They didn’t wallow in the Wounds they likely experienced during that troubling time.  I’m not so sure about the ability of our existing generations to do the same.  Even before the pandemic descended on us there was a prevalence toward a victim mentality in which some people seemed unable to move on from Wounds.  Instead, they needed to make sure their Wounds were prominently on figurative display so others would grant them a never-ending stream of attention.  However, those forms of commiseration never fully satisfy what is missing in that person’s life.  We now have an opportunity to move beyond the Wounds we may have accumulated either from the pandemic or other potentially damaging experiences in our life.  A reminder of the Wound may always be present as a scar of some sort, but over time it is likely to fade.  If we keep picking at the scab of a Wound it will never heal.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us summon the courage to acknowledge the various Wounds we may have experienced in our life.  Let us ask for spiritual assistance in finding a way to allow those Wounds to heal so they do not permanently define our identity.  May all those who have suffered Wounds of any type feel the healing love and support of Spirit that will help them move from the past.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I have been able to heal from a deep Wound?  How does it feel in my body when I allow myself to grieve the infliction of a Wound but then am able to let go and not wallow in it?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
