For this Sunday, March 20th, the focus for our meditation will be on Mother Earth. I love it when synchronicity occurs. The topic for this week's meditation had once again been chosen when a friend forwarded a message from the Hopi Nation offering prayers for Japan (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-g4Qub4VL6w). In their message the Hopi state the sacred land of the earth is crying and that more balance is needed for things to be restored. They ask people around the world to "walk gently upon our earth with respect for her and all life." What a beautiful sentiment. Ecology is defined as the science of the relationships between organisms and their environment. I tend to think of ecology as having to do with "being green" and reducing pollution, but how often do we instead consider our "relationship" with the earth? Thinking of it in those terms tends to emphasize the "aliveness" of Mother Earth for us to be able to have a relationship with her. This week let us examine the nature of our interaction with Mother Earth. Do we contribute to her by planting trees or gardens, cleaning up pollution, and trying to reduce the extent of our "footprint" and its impact on the earth? In our prayers and meditation let us join with others around the world and ask that balance be restored, that Mother Earth be sent healing energy, and that the living waters that nourish her be purified.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I feel a connection to Mother Earth? What does it feel like when I am aware of the depth of Mother Earth's sustaining energy for all beings who live here? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation and the world.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
