Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 10, 2011

For this Sunday, April 10th, the focus for our meditation will be on Self-awareness. To be fully Self-aware requires that one recognize the darker side of ourselves that we often prefer not to admit exists. Our nation certainly has had its share of a dark past with the legacy of our treatment of indigenous peoples or the shame of slavery. Rather than ignore these flaws and pretend they never occurred real healing comes when we are able to acknowledge they are a part of our history, albeit without question a less desirable aspect. It is through this acceptance that we ensure they remain in the past. Our awareness of these past blights of character drives us to vow never to return to such deplorable conduct. It is the same with individuals. We each have a dark side, some facet of our personality or character that we perhaps loathe or that makes us feel ashamed, something that we would definitely prefer others never knew about us. Yet, if we are to heal that inner portion that remains from having made mistakes we must be honest in our self-appraisal and admit what we have done, even if only to ourselves. This is not to say we want to continually beat ourselves up for our flaws. There is also an important place for forgiveness that is essential for healing to occur, but we need to first take the step of acknowledging that aspect of our inner self that is hidden from others in order to let go of it. This week in our meditation we want to look deep inside ourselves and bring to consciousness those parts we may dislike. This honest Self-awareness then allows for real forgiveness and helps motivate us to become more like the better self we want others to believe we truly are.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I have an honest Self-awareness of my flaws of character? What does it feel like when my Self-awareness helps me recognize my failures but also allows for forgiveness so I can move on? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation and the world. Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
