For this Sunday, May 29th, the focus for our meditation will be on Pride. As our nation pauses this weekend to commemorate our service men and women who gave their lives for their country the occasion prompts us to consider all the things for which we can be Proud about the United States. This country has been a popular target for media bashing, both domestically and abroad, yet there are many more positives that vastly outweigh the negatives that seem to seldom generate news headlines. For instance, as a nation, Americans give twice as much as the next most charitable country, topping the list with a donation level of 1.7 percent of our gross domestic product compared to the second most charitable country in the world, Great Britain, at 0.73 percent. On another level we seem to take for granted the privileges and freedoms afforded men and women alike. Having traveled to countries where women are subjected to oppressive restrictions and abuse with little recourse to protection from authorities I am always grateful and Proud of the equality we experience here. The list of admirable qualities appears limitless - the strength of our industries, the excellence of higher education, the availability and quality of medical care, the right of all citizens to vote, and on and on. This week in our prayer and meditation if we take time to reflect on the qualities that make us most Proud of our nation perhaps we can help elevate and strengthen those characteristics even more.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am feeling a sense of Pride for my country? What does it feel like when I recognize the positive qualities of this nation that make me Proud to be American? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
