Meditation Instructions for Sun., March 13, 2016

For this Sunday, March 13th, the focus for our meditation will be on Compliments.  Insults are not solely the possession of political campaigns.  Much of our entertainment in the form of television comedies and movies is also based on insults as characters try to one-up each other with critical remarks deemed wittier than the next.  Our constant exposure to criticism and insults can have a negative effect by slowly skewing our thinking and making us more prone to viewing the world through a harsher lens.  We consequently find it easier to recognize the bad rather than the good in someone.  Seeing how liberally people hurl insults at others can make us feel permitted to do the same.  As a result, this never-ending wave of negative, critical thought becomes more pervasive.  One way to disrupt this pattern is to consciously try to find something positive to offer in our remarks.  Admittedly, it can be a challenge in some situations, but by forcing ourselves to glean something Complimentary about another individual it can actually alter how we feel about them.  Rather than denigrating someone for being too ignorant, too ugly, or too whatever, we see them instead as being happy or generous or thoughtful.  Imagine if our society were to experience such a shift that everyone began identifying positive, kind things to say about others rather than jump to criticism?  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us ask to be shown ways to practice this in our own life.  May we be guided to see through a kinder lens that encourages us to offer Compliments rather than criticism.  May the energy of our meditation help bring a wave of positive thinking that negates the insults that seem so prevalent and allow our nation to show its kinder, gentler side.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I receive a Compliment rather than criticism from others?  How does it feel in my body when I am able to recognize the positive attributes of someone and be willing to share that with them via a Compliment?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
