Meditation Instructions for Sun., March 12, 2017

For this Sunday, March 12th, the focus for our meditation will be on Lessons.  Beverly Sills, the American opera singer of fame, had the rather un-opera-like nickname of “Bubbles.”  Although given to her at birth, the name Bubbles was also thought to have reflected her ever-present cheery outlook.  Most might assume given her unparalleled popularity as a performer that her life was always filled with success and happiness.  Ironically, however, her two children never heard her sing on stage.  Both were born with severe physical and mental challenges that led Sills to purposely limit her international appearances so she could attend to them.  More tragedy was introduced to her life when she lost her husband after nursing him through years of illness.  Yet, she insisted in an interview, “I’m not happy, I’m cheerful.  There’s a difference.  A happy woman has no cares at all.  A cheerful woman has cares but has learned how to deal with them.”  What could have been devastating life experiences were instead turned into life Lessons that allowed her to rise above these difficulties.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us take inspiration from this renowned woman and ask ourselves what Lessons might we gain from the challenges we have confronted in life.  Let us ask to be shown how to convert disappointments or failures into Lessons that help us overcome whatever else life may throw at us.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I learn a valuable Lesson from a difficult life experience?  How does it feel in my body when the challenges I am given help me learn Lessons that make me a stronger person?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
