Meditation Instructions for Sun., April 15, 2018

For this Sunday, April 15th, the focus for our meditation will be on Community.  Many of us live compartmentalized lives.  We have our family life, our social life, our business life, and other similar circles in which we interact with others.  Sometimes these Communities overlap and sometimes they are completely separate from each other with little to nothing in common.  In each sphere we have the opportunity to enrich our life through our connectedness with others.  At the same time that we benefit from this engagement we also want to appreciate there is a custodial responsibility accompanying our membership.  These groups require some effort on our part to remain vibrant, cohesive Communities.  If we take our Communities for granted or shirk responsibility for their upkeep and expect others to do it for us they can all too readily disintegrate into scattered states that eventually fall completely apart.  Last week we spoke about our Communities taking on more responsibility for those individuals who cannot care for themselves, but we want to recognize our Communities also require our care and attention for them to continue to function smoothly.  How do we care for our Communities?  By adopting an attitude of not just receiving but also giving when we see a need.  This isn’t something that requires a huge sacrifice of time or money on our part.  Perhaps we pick up trash when walking through our neighborhood or clean up a break room in our office environment.  We can keep our Communities healthy by consciously bringing our light into them.  Try adopting a habit of intentionally spreading light as you drive through your neighborhood or walk down a hallway at home or at work.   Over time that light will help support the Community and keep it energized in a way that contributes positively to all its members.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us consider little ways in which we might act to support our Communities.  Let us come to appreciate all that we gain by our participation in Communities and understand our role and responsibility for their sustenance.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I recognize the benefit I receive by being a member of a Community?  How does it feel in my body when I am willing to contribute even in a small way that helps support my Community?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
