Meditation Instructions for Sun., October 28, 2018

For this Sunday, October 28th, the focus for our meditation will be on Humanity.  Our nation has once again been assailed by the violence spurred from prejudice and hatred.  More lives have been lost in the tragic events of this most recent onslaught; lives that cannot be fully measured by a listing of their names, ages, professions, etc.  Underneath these events are the inability to set aside differences and the fear an irrational person feels when they are threatened by those who are not like them.  When someone is so thoroughly consumed with fear and hatred they are incapable of seeing others as Human beings.  It is easier to instead sort them into opposing classes of what the deranged believe they represent.  By neatly binning them in this manner, they become even more generic and lose any sense of individuality.  If only people who feel threatened by those who are different would be willing to suspend judgment and engage in real dialogue instead.  I’m sure they would find all manner of similarities that would make the differences seem less significant.  This is a process that everyone, including those of us who would not resort to violence in the face of differences, would find beneficial.  All of us have prejudices and fears of one sort or another.  If we consciously take the step to resolve those through dialogue and seeking understanding perhaps we can help model for others how to perceive the Humanity in everyone rather than focus on the differences.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us ask that this nation be filled with the willingness to recognize that each of us is a member of Humanity with more in common than we are unalike.  Let us pray that the spirit of acknowledging the spark of Humanity in every person help us overcome our differences.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I am able to set aside differences and appreciate how others who are not like me remain a part of Humanity?  How does it feel in my body when I work to recognize the Humanity in all so I may more easily overlook how we are different?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
