Meditation Instructions for Sun., October 18, 2020

For this Sunday, October 18th, the focus for our meditation will be on Patience.  Not everyone is good at waiting for something.  Social researchers claim the prevalence of instant gratification is making the trait of Patience even more rare.  Unfortunately, when people rush to get somewhere or wish for time to accelerate, they squander the potential value that interval of time contains.  If we are consumed with crossing off the days or counting the minutes that go by, we are unable to take full advantage of that passage of time.  We purposely let it slip through our fingers convinced something better awaits us when the hourglass is empty.  I see a lot of Impatience these days.  People express their fatigue and frustration with the ongoing pandemic or they anxiously count down to the election.  Certainly no one wishes the pandemic would continue, but the lack of Patience in not recognizing only time will allow it to run its course means people abandon the discipline needed to keep themselves and others safe.  Similarly, whatever the outcome of the election there will be no waving of a magic wand that overnight transforms our world to one we wish to see.  Some are already predicting there will not be a clear outcome on Election Day, and we will have to wait some time until ballots are checked and re-checked before the results are official.  The world is going to demand a lot of Patience from us in the coming weeks and months.  We can choose to chafe against this reality or we can accept it with grace and savor the opportunity to cultivate better Patience.  If we are willing to be Patient, we can let go of our obsession with the future and focus more on what is needed in the present.  Opportunities to improve the immediate moment are less likely to slip by unnoticed.  Whether that means reaching out and helping someone else or just pausing to be filled with appreciation for what we have, we can take full advantage of the current period of time.  This week in our prayer and meditation time let us recognize the importance of Patience in helping us navigate these turbulent times.  May we be given the ability to find more Patience and accept the passage of time with a grace that allows us to honor every moment we are given.

In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this nation.  As we perform our meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of the light we create.  Just as before, begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it.  Raise this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch of our country.  From shore to shore and border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who live across its vast lands.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.

Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I am able to be Patient and wait for something rather than wish for time to accelerate?  How does it feel in my body when my Patience allows me to more fully honor the present moment?  Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
