For this Sunday, October 24th, the focus for our meditation will be on Empathy. Past measures of intelligence focused on such cognitive abilities as abstract reasoning, spatial imagery, word and sentence comprehension, etc. In more modern times, however, a new form of intelligence has come into prominence – one labeled as Emotional Intelligence. This refers to the ability to accurately identify the emotions of others as well as those feelings we ourselves experience. It is fundamental to our ability to understand and deal appropriately with others and in truly knowing ourselves. To have Empathy implies one acts with consideration for what others are feeling and how our behavior will impact them. I don’t know if it is our increasing interaction with computer technology or some other factor, but it seems as though the quality of Empathy is waning in our society. Those who bully others, for instance, clearly lack the ability to appreciate how their actions can impact their victims. They seem to regard this behavior as entertainment with callous disregard for the damage it may cause. In our meditation this week we want to ask that people across this country gain a greater desire for Empathy and consequently act with greater consideration for others.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.
Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I am able to have Empathy and appreciate the emotions of others? How does it feel when I act with Empathy and consideration for the feelings of others? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
