Meditation Instructions for Sun., Feb. 27, 2011

For this Sunday, February 27th, the focus for our meditation will be on Realism. Many of us might like to think we are realists, always maintaining a practical view, but there can be subtle ways that the absence of Realism trips us up. Perhaps it is in underestimating the time or expense that it will take to complete a project, or an over-idealized view of a particular friendship or personal relationship. In either instance, we can fall prey to being blindered to what reality would indicate, often in the hope that despite all signs to the contrary we can somehow make it work. While I am certainly a strong advocate for optimism and setting high goals, a need for Realism is equally important. There was a quote I often heard in the military which was, “Expect the best, but plan for the worst.” There’s nothing wrong with moving through life buoyed by optimism, but the ride is a lot smoother if you maintain a sense of Realism that makes certain you are prepared to be adaptable when needed. In our meditation this week we want to examine where in our life we may need more Realism. Ask where you may have lost perspective on a situation and need a dose of Realism to help bring things back into focus. At the same time, please ask that our nation move forward with a grasp of Realism as to what is needed to achieve the goals before us.

Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us, connect to the circle of others participating in this project, and create the brilliant star-like light over the nation. Extend blue rays from the center of this light to the nation's four borders and then connect to the grid or matrix that extends from the circle.

Ask yourself how does it feel in my body when I recognize I operate with a sense of Realism in what I am striving to accomplish? What does it feel like when I know I am being practical and Realistic in my perspective? Then send the energy and intention of that feeling to the grid for the nation.

Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
