For this Sunday, March 17th, the focus for our meditation
will be on Laughter. For some people it is easy to take life too
seriously. We find ourselves so burdened
by responsibilities and tasks to accomplish that we hurry through life trying
to squeeze more and more in. As a
result, we may not be taking time to stop and just enjoy the moment. Laughter
actually has a positive physiological benefit in that it increases the amount
of oxygen in our body. It forces us to
breathe more deeply, taking more oxygen into our circulatory system and increasing
the levels of oxygen in the brain which enhances our ability to think. There are studies that have shown the healing
action of Laughter, indicating we
recover faster when we watch a funny movie that makes us erupt into peals of
delight. There is even a form of yoga
based on encouraging healthy levels of Laughter
while engaging in different movements. In a more personal focus this week let us
consider in our meditation whether we appreciate the value of Laughter in our life. Do we take time to truly relish a good joke
or savor the humor of a funny moment? Or,
do we instead tend to take things too seriously and perhaps miss the opportunity
for more Laughter in our life? This week let us ask that we find time in our
busy lives to stop and appreciate the value of Laughter and recognize the benefits it can bring to us all.
In our efforts this week let us also use the energy of our
prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills this
nation. As we perform our meditation let
us re-energize the brilliance and power of the light we create. Begin by forming a concentrated ball of light
that is so bright it is almost impossible to look directly at it. Raise this sphere of light up high over the
nation and then let its rays cascade down to create a solid, impenetrable dome
of light that completely covers every inch of our country. From shore to shore and border to border let
the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense light that will serve
to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country and the people who
live across its vast lands.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in
your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us,
and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.
Ask yourself how do I feel when I appreciate how Laughter improves my mood and sense of well-being? How does it feel in my body when I recognize the presence of humor that allows me to freely let go in Laughter? Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
