For this Sunday, August 5th, the focus for
our meditation will be on Transformation. Throughout our entire life we are confronted
by continual change that foists upon us the need to adapt. Each Transformative stage requires
that we undergo a reconfigurationin which we shed some aspects of ourselves but
acquire other new facets in return. We
move from childhood to adolescence and abandon our childish ways to acquire the
social skills that will enable us to “play nice” with others through the
remainder of life. We Transform
from student to employee and learn to accept the regimen of schedules and the
burden of responsibilities while gaining financial independence. At some point we Transform again by
entering into a committed relationship in which we may have to compromise by
giving up something our spouse or partner is not fond of but then acquire new
tastes and interests from their sphere of influence. We inescapably age and lose some abilities
but hopefully gain greater freedom when we retire, allowing us to more fully enjoy
what remains. Rather than looking at these
life stages as a gradual winnowing away of all we have, we may be better served
to realize they resemble a tally sheet of debits and credits in which some things
are taken away but others are gained.
Perhaps this is merely the reductive argument of whether the glass is
half full or half empty, but since no one’s life is without change it doesn’t
appear to leave us much choice other than to figure out how to Transform
ourselves along the way. When we are
able to readily adapt it brings a grace and ease to life that can smooth the
hurdles these changes present. This week
in our prayer and meditation time let us remember that we are never alone as we
navigate these challenges but always have spiritual support available at the
asking. Let us be gently reminded to
call upon the divine strength that is always accessible to help guide us
through the inevitable Transformations life demands.
In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the
energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills
this nation. As we perform our
meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of
the light we create. Just as before,
begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost
impossible to look directly at it. Raise
this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down
to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch
of our country. From shore to shore and
border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense
light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country
and the people who live across its vast lands.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in
your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us
and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.
Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I have undergone
a Transformation that left me a
better person on the other side? How does it feel in my body when I recognize
change is inevitable and find a way to Transform
myself with relative ease? Then send the energy and intention of those feelings to
the nation.
Be sure to disconnect from the circle at the end and express
thanks for those who have helped us in this effort.
