For this Sunday, June 3rd, the focus for our
meditation will be on Detoxification. Methods to purge ourselves of various toxins
have been around for thousands of years.
People wanting to rid their body of impurities will resort to treatments
such as saunas to induce sweating, ingesting substances to bind with and remove
toxins, or even colonics to cleanse the gastrointestinal system. Each of these remedies is designed to flush
out what is harmful in order to improve our physical health. While these techniques are a good step in the
right direction there remains the need to also Detoxify ourselves of
more than physically toxic substances. Just
as we accumulate chemical impurities we can also hold onto mental or emotional
toxins that are equally difficult to release.
Experiences that are upsetting or emotionally stressful can become the
stuff we find continually intruding on our thoughts or even nighttime
dreams. We can have a tendency to want
to replay those difficult conversations or hurtful moments over and over as
though with each repetition a different outcome may occur. The ongoing impact of these negative memories
can be just as harmful as physical poisons.
While we might consciously realize we are not serving ourselves by holding
onto those adverse thoughts and emotions it can still leave us with the
challenge of how to get rid of them. Desensitization
techniques can blunt the sharpness of these harmful feelings but sometimes it
just takes the passage of time for them to slowly fade away. Psychological reframing, where you work to gain
a different perspective that makes the memory less onerous, can also help. In any case, we want to recognize the
importance of ridding ourselves not just of physical toxins but also those
thoughts and feelings that may be poisoning us in other ways. This week in our prayer and meditation time
let us ask to be shown how to gently release the emotional trauma we may have
accumulated over time. May we find a way
to Detoxify ourselves that allows us to shed the burden of bad memories
so we may move forward and not be stuck in the past.
In our efforts this week let us also continue to use the
energy of our prayers and meditation to amplify the light that covers and fills
this nation. As we perform our
meditation this week let us begin by re-energizing the brilliance and power of
the light we create. Just as before,
begin by forming a concentrated ball of light that is so bright it is almost
impossible to look directly at it. Raise
this sphere of light up high over the nation and then let its rays cascade down
to create a solid, impenetrable dome of light that completely covers every inch
of our country. From shore to shore and
border to border let the entire continent be filled with this brilliant, dense
light that will serve to magnify the best and highest qualities of our country
and the people who live across its vast lands.
Please follow the same practice as before: Get centered in
your body, ask to bring in your guides and others who are there to assist us,
and connect to the circle of others participating in this project.
Ask yourself what do I feel in my body when I have
experienced the emotional and mental cleansing that comes from Detoxification? How does it feel
in my body when I realize the importance of shedding negative memories to help Detoxify myself? Then send the
energy and intention of those feelings to the nation.
